Police identify homicide suspect that is under arrest

West Columbia, SC 06/24/2021 (Paul Kirby) –The West Columbia Police Department has now identified the man they arrested early Thursday morning in a homicide investigation. They say that Trevor Anthony Irvin, 28 years old of Columbia, SC, has been charged him with Murder and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime.
Earlier in the day, Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said in a statement that Irvin and Daniel Demetrius Jones, 33, of Columbia had been arguing. Both of the men were employees of the House of Raeford chicken processing plant on Sunset Boulevard in West Columbia. At some point, the argument escalated until Irvin shot Jones multiple times. This happened in the parking lot of the Capital Square shopping center on the opposite side of Sunset from the plant. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
West Columbia Police Captain Marion Boyce said that Irvin has been transported to the Lexington County Detention Center where he has been booked.
