Lexington County, SC 06/15/2022 (Paul Kirby) – Incumbent Representative Nathan Ballentine easily held off challenger Paul Erickson who had filed to run against him in yesterday’s Republican Primary. Ballentine represents the people of SC House District 71 which includes both Lexington and Richland Counties. It includes a part of the Town of Irmo, a large portion of the Dutch Fork area, and some areas north of Broad River Road.

The unofficial results of this race show that 254 total votes were cast in this race. Ballentine received 157 of those votes or 67.72%. Erickson had just 82 voters cast their ballot for him equaling 32.28%

According to scvotes.org, no Democrat filed to run against Ballentine in November. This means that unless someone can mount a successful write-in campaign, which is highly unlikely, Ballentine will retain his seat for another 2-years term.
