South Congaree, SC 06/21/2022 (Paul Kirby) – The word is out, and the area’s rodeo fans are already getting excited. The South Congaree Championship Rodeo will be returning on July 22nd and 23rd at the Equestrian Arena in South Congaree.
Back for its 6th year, this International Professional Rodeo Association (IPRA) sanctioned event has already won numerous awards since its inception. It features professional rodeo riders in all the classic events like bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, barrel racing, calf roping, steer wrestling, break-away roping, and the hit of every rodeo, the bull riding.
Besides these events, the specialty acts always seem to bring the crowds to their feet. Sophie Duch, a 14-year-old trick rider from Cherokee Nation, Oklahoma, has made the South Congaree Championship Rodeo a regular stop on her circuit each year. She amazes the crowd with her standing while riding presentation of the American flag during the opening ceremonies, her Roman riding over flaming rods, and her trick shooting from horseback. Of course, throughout the rodeo, the clown keeps things moving and people laughing with his antics and jokes. The kids absolutely love this part of the rodeo.
