SC Highway Patrol looking for information on a truck involved in a hit and run on Fish Hatchery

Gaston, SC 01/03/2023 (Paul Kirby) – The SC Highway Patrol is asking the public for assistance in locating a truck and its driver that was involved in a fatal hit and run collision on Monday, January 2, 2023, between the hours of 10 and 11 p.m. This happened on Fish Hatchery near Kimmey Road in the Gaston or Sharpes Hill area of Lexington County.

According to the troopers investigating the incident, a black, Ford F-150 pickup was travelling on Fish Hatchery Road when it struck a moped. The driver of the truck left the scene after the collision.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said that Darrell Ferris Branham, 37, of Leesville was traveling southbound on Fish Hatchery Road riding the moped when he was struck from behind by a vehicle. Branham, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead due to the injuries sustained.
