Lexington, SC 03/20/2024 (Paul Kirby) – Master Trooper William Bennett has provided details of a double fatal collision on I-20 east near he 61 mile-marker. Bennett said the collision involved 3 vehicles and two pedestrians.

Bennett said a Dodge truck was travelling east on I-20 pulling a cargo trailer when the trailer came loose from the truck in a lane of traffic on I-20.  A Jeep Cherokee that was travelling in the same direction swerved to miss the trailer. Another Dodge pickup that was also traveling east struck the Jeep in the rear knocking it into the trailer. The trailer then moved forward striking the 2 pedestrians that were trying to reattach the trailer to their truck. One of the pedestrians died at the scene as a result of the crash. The second was transported to an area hospital to be treated for their injuries.
