SC Highway Patrol says one died in a collision Tuesday morning in the Red Bank area of the county

Red Bank, SC 11/01/2022 – Lance Corporal Tyler Tidwell of the SC Highway Patrol said Tuesday afternoon that one person died this morning in a collision in the Red Bank community of Lexington County. According to Tidwell, the collision occurred at approximately 8:26 a.m. at the intersection of Platt Springs Road and Sandy Springs Road.

Tidwell said that the SCHP’s preliminary investigation revealed that a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado was travelling west toward South Lake Drive on Platt Springs. Another motorist driving a Nissan sedan was travelling toward Platt Springs on Sandy Springs. The two vehicles collided at that intersection taking the life of the operator of the Nissan.


Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fishers office is making notifications to the decedent’s next of kin before she releases that individuals name.


This collision is still under investigation by the SCHP.
