SCDNR says State Farmer's Market office being limited by staffing shortages

Dixiana, SC 08/04/2021 (Paul Kirby) – The SC Department of Natural Resources (SDNR) announced recently that their State Farmer's Market Boat Titling and Licensing Office located in Lexington County will be operating with limited staff until further notice. This is a result of the continuing pandemic conditions according to the SCDNR’s statement. That office is still open weekdays at 483 Charleston Hwy, West Columbia, SC 29172 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. This is on the grounds of the SC State Farmer’s Market in the Dixiana area.

According to SCDNR’s spokesperson, this personnel shortage may result in longer than usual wait times for both in-person visitors and those calling over the phone. For the public’s convenience, the department has provided information on how citizens can do as much of their business with the department on-line or at alternate locations when possible.

According to the statement released, recreational hunting and fishing licenses, tags, and permits can be purchased online 24/7 by following this link: Recreational Hunting & Fishing Licenses. You can acquire those items by telephone at 1-866-714-3611. When transacting business through their on-line portal it should be noted that a small convenience fee may apply. Licenses and permits can also be purchased at one of more than 500 license vendors located across the state, including big-box retailers and locally owned sporting goods, hardware, or bait-and-tackle shops.

In closing, the SCDNR spokesperson said that the department sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience this closure may cause to their customers. It is a necessary step to protect the health of the public and their staff according to their release.

Boating transactions can still be processed by mail. Visit the boat registration and titling page on the SCDNR website by following this link: Boat Registration & Titling. There, you’ll find more information, frequently asked questions, downloadable applications, and other assistance related to the requirements for registering and titling boats and motors.
