School District Five recognizes students for achieving high scores on PSAT/SAT exam

Irmo, SC (5/24/2021) – Lexington-Richland School District Five is recognizing dozens of students for achieving high scores on the PSAT and SAT examinations. The highest score possible on the PSAT is 1520, and the highest score possible on the SAT is 1600.

For recognition purposes the district uses the PSAT scores for 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students. The test was administered in October 2020 to 10th graders and to 9th and 11th graders in January 2021. These scores are the total of both Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, and Math sections. The following students earned the top total scores for their school: Kathleen Barfield, Cody Dedmond, Cindy Ju (Chapin High), Jessica Chen, Alexander Downs, Anna Greene, Benjamin Herbst, Austin Huang, Emma Meihofer, Lawrence Miao, Darwin Newman-Norlund (Dutch Fork High), Elisabeth Hall, Joseph Hodges and Van McAlister (Irmo High), Violet Raftery, Fiona Schreier and Luke Vismara (Spring Hill High).

The district also recognizes any student for achieving a perfect score on either of the two sections of the PSAT test. Those sections are Evidenced-Based Reading and Writing, and Math. The following students scored a perfect score on the Math portion: Jessica Chen, Benjamin Herbst, Emma Meihofer, Lawrence Miao, Darwin Newman-Norlund (Dutch Fork High), and Christopher Lewis (Spring Hill High).

The following student scored a perfect score on the Evidenced-Based Reading and Writing portion of the PSAT test: Fiona Schreier (Spring Hill High).

The following students earned the top total scores for their school on the SAT test. These scores are the total of both Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, and Math sections from their Freshman year through December 31st of their Senior year: Paige Maylath, Allison Fletcher, and Morgan Grooms (Chapin High), Benjamin Yang, Janhvi Kartik, Seungwook Won, and Natalie Crawford (Dutch Fork High), Paul Matheny, Alaura Cakley, and Jacob Keenan (Irmo High), Peter von Ahn, Sasha Bacot, and Vishwa Diwan (Spring Hill High).

The district also recognizes any student for achieving a perfect score on either of the two sections of the SAT test. Those sections are Evidenced-Based Reading and Writing, and Math. The following students scored a perfect score on the Math portion: Janhvi Kartik, Seungwook Won, Natalie Crawford, Katelyn Potts, Benjamin Yang, and Claudia Byun (Dutch Fork High), Sasha Bacot, and Peter von Ahn (Spring Hill High).

“We have remarkable students in School District Five and this recognition highlights the outstanding academic achievements of students from each of our high schools,” said Chief Instructional Officer Michael Guliano. “I am proud of each of their accomplishments and look forward to reading about their future successes.”
