Three Fountains, SC (Paul Kirby) - A spokesman for the Lexington County Sheriff's Department said they had personnel in the early stages of a death investigation today. Citizens began calling The Ledger about the presence of law enforcement officers and the coroner at the home near Lindler Manufacturing Friday morning before 10 a.m.
Captain Adam Myrick gave no details but did confirm investigators had been working at a home near the intersection of Platt Springs and East Steele Road between Three Fountains and Red Bank. Personnel from Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher’s office were also on the scene and involved in the investigation.
The phrase "death investigation" does not necessarily indicate that a crime has been committed. In some cases, the decedent's cause of death is not obvious so the area where their body was located is treated as a crime scene. It remains designated as such until the coroner’s office determines what the actual cause and manner of death is.
