Edmund, SC (Paul Kirby) 11/14/20 4:01 am - Detectives with the Lexington County Sheriff's Department are in the early stages of an investigation into what is being called a “drive by shooting” in south central Lexington County. This occurred in the 500 block of Pleasant View Drive between Edmund and Red Bank in proximity to the Lexington County landfill.
The incident occurred early Saturday morning sometime between 2:00 and 4:00 a.m. Investigators quickly had identified a suspect. All on-duty law enforcement and public safety personnel across the region were asked to be on the lookout for a Chevrolet pickup truck with a Caucasian male driving. They believe that vehicle may have turned east toward South Congaree and the City of West Columbia. They were particularly focused on an area where the man was known to have family. The driver was described as armed and dangerous.
This did not appear to be a random attack. The fact that investigators had identified the suspect so quickly indicated that someone at the home that was fired on knew the perpetrator. At this point, no information regarding whether anyone was hit and injured by the shots fired has been released.
This is a fast developing story. We have requested more information from the sheriff's department and will update when we receive more.
