Columbia, SC (06/05/2021 Paul Kirby) – This morning at 10:30 a.m., the Jamil Shriners, based in the St. Andrews portion of Lexington County, will gather in Columbia and a S.C. Governor’s Proclamation commending their work will be read. This will take place in the first-floor lobby of the SC Statehouse at Main and Gervais Streets in Columbia.
The Governor’s Proclamation recognizes the hard work, dedication, a commitment to volunteering that the Shriners possess. Through these attributes, they provide care, support, and assistance to the patients and families of the Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals and have since 1974.
Jamil Shriners will also use this ceremony as an opportunity to spotlight Shriner’s Awareness Day which is Sunday, June 6, 2021. This is a day when Shriners celebrate their fraternity, raise awareness of their importance in the community, and openly display the impact they have around the word. This is also a day when they share stories of their experiences and educate others about their mission of improving the lives of children.
