South Carolina Highway Patrol reports fatal collision on Augusta Road Thursday morning

Oak Grove, SC (Paul Kirby) - A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed on Augusta Road near Ermine Road early Thursday morning. The collision occurred about 5:45 AM.

According to Master Trooper David Jones of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a pedestrian was trying to cross the road in that area when that individual was struck by a Jeep SUV. The pedestrian was killed as a result of that collision. The driver of the Jeep was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher will be in charge of releasing the victim's name. She will not do this until that individual’s family has been fully notified of their death.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
