South Congaree Police Chief Jonas swears in new lieutenant as department starts the rebuilding process

South Congaree, SC 10/21/2024 (Paul Kirby) – The Town of South Congaree’s Police Department has begun rebuilding over the past few months with the naming of a new chief of police and now a lieutenant. Chief Jonas had the honor of pinning on Lieutenant James Marchant’s bars at a recent ceremony.

 

Lt. Marchant has 8 years of law enforcement experience. He began his career at the Columbia County Georgia Sheriff’s Department. He has most recently worked at the Town of Lexington Police Department in Lexington, SC.


 

Chief Jonas said after the ceremony, “I could not be more excited to Have Lt. Marchant as a part of our department and my leadership team. Throughout the hiring process, it became clear that we share a mutual vision and commitment to enhancing law enforcement in our community”

 

“I want to make a positive impact by building trust between law enforcement and the people.” Lt. Marchant stated. “I see South Congaree Police Department as a perfect place to achieve this goal. Serving alongside Chief Jonas, I believe we can accomplish great things.”
