South Congaree police officers arrest 3 people for various crimes associated with internet sales

South Congaree, SC 12/09/2024 (Paul Kirby) – Investigators with the Town of South Congaree Police Department concluded a 5-month investigation into an Armed Robbery with a Deadly Weapon, Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Crime & Criminal Conspiracy. On December 6, 2024, they arrested 2 females and one male in conjunction with these crimes.
According to the department, the defendants repeatedly conspired with one another and contacted multiple people on-line through the social media forum “Facebook Marketplace.” The defendants would then lure the victims with the promise they would purchase their items. They would have the victim meet them at a pre-selected meeting place and then commit larcenies, breach of trust crimes, and even the crime of armed robbery with a deadly weapon.
During the arrest, South Congaree officers were assisted by deputies with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department. The law enforcement officers took Jasmine Sierra Mosely, 21, Shayla Alisia Pough, 26, and Christopher Eugene Burgess Jr., 18, into custody for these crimes which occurred over the last several months. All the arrests were made without incident.
At present the Town of South Congaree Police Department’s investigators, with the assistance of the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, are actively following up on additional open cases involving the defendants continued criminal activity.
The Town of South Congaree has a designated Internet Purchase/Swap Zone outside of the South Congaree Police Department that is marked with a sign. It has cameras pointed toward it that record 24 hours each day and it’s well lit. All people arrested and charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court law.
