South Congaree police officers arrest two on attempted murder charges

South Congaree, SC 12/13/2022 (Paul Kirby) – Officers with the South Congaree Police Department have made two arrests involving an Attempted Murder that occurred on Thanksgiving Day. According to the department, Jakqui Stewart and Lela Sampson were both arrested Tuesday and charged with Attempted Murder, six counts of Assault 1st, Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime, Criminal Conspiracy, and Discharging a Firearm into a Dwelling.
According to a statement released by the department, on Thanksgiving, the suspects fired several rounds into the victim’s residence off Ramblin Rd after an argument over the telephone. Police say this was an isolated incident and the victim and the suspects knew each other.
Stewart and Sampson have been booked into the Lexington County Detention Center. As of Tuesday, December 13, 2022, no bond has been set for the pair.
