South Congaree, SC 07/14/2021 (Paul Kirby) – Officers with the South Congaree Police Department have arrested two women after a recent traffic stop. Chief Josh Shumpert of the department says that during that stop, officers discovered 55 grams of methamphetamine processed as ICE.

According to Shumpert, on Saturday, July 10, 2021, an officer pulled over Ashley Hagins and Heather Smith inside the town’s limits. After a search of their vehicle uncovered the drugs, the pair were charged with trafficking methamphetamines. Hagins also had warrants from the SC Department of Probation, Parole, and Pardon for probation violations.

Officers later transported the pair to the Lexington County Detention Center where Hagins was booked on other charges. Those included furnishing or possessing contraband in a municipal or county detention facility and the possession of narcotics. She was still be held there Tuesday afternoon without a bond amount listed.

Smith appears to have met the terms of her bond and has been released.
