Springdale opens filing for November Municipal Election; Ricard set to run for mayor

Springdale, SC 08/24/2021 (Paul Kirby) – The Town of Springdale, SC will hold its Municipal Election on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. The seats that will up for grabs include the offices of mayor and three town councilmembers.


Filing for the open seats began yesterday, August 23rd, and will close at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 3rd. Candidates who are interested in running for these offices will file through the Lexington County Voter Registration and Elections Office. That is located at 605 West Main Street, Suite C in Lexington.

The filing fee for mayor is $55 and the filing fee for councilmember is $45. For additional information on the requirements for holding one of these offices, please contact the Lexington County Voter Registration & Elections Office at 803-785-8361.


At this point, long serving Springdale Town Councilman Justin Ricard has contacted the staff of The Lexington Ledger to say that he has decided to run for the office of mayor. Ricard, who grew up in Springdale, is an employee of Dominion Energy. He lives with his family off Wattling Road on the property he was raised on.
