Springdale, SC 09/07/2021 (Paul Kirby) - The Springdale Police Department is gearing up for its annual National Night Out celebration. This year, it is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, October 5 at 5:30 p.m. As it has been in previous years, it will be held in the park next to the town hall and PD on Platt Springs Road.
National Night Out is a national community-building campaign that promotes a partnership between the police and the community. Each year, families, often with children in tow, come and enjoy free food, drinks, games, entertainment, and giveaways as they mingle with their community’s law enforcement officers. It is a great family-friendly event that allows children to be introduced to officers in an informal setting and begins the teaching process that law enforcement officers are their friends. It also allows adults to learn the officers’ by their names and stresses that the community is a strategic partner with law enforcement.
There are many great opportunities for businesses, churches, civic organizations, or individuals to partner with the police by sponsoring some of the events during National Night Out. To learn more about those, please contact Administrative Assistant Sheri Jonas at sjonas@springdalesc.com or 803-796-3160.
