Suspect identified, warrants issued for man involved in Lexington drive-by

Lexington, SC 06/29/2021 (Paul Kirby) - Chief Terrence Green of the Lexington Police Department said late Monday afternoon that officers had identified the suspect they believe perpetrated a drive-by shooting in a Lexington neighborhood earlier in the day. The shooting incident occurred on Monday, June 28, 2021, in the 300 block of Coventry Lakes Drive.

Greene said that at approximately 1:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to Coventry Lakes after they received a report of shots fired. It is believed that an older model blue-gray BMV drove by the residence and fired a weapon into the house.

When the first officers arrived, they made contact with the victim, he told the officers that he had been having an ongoing social media dispute with another individual. The victim told police that he thought the man he had argued on-line with was who he believed fired the weapon into the home.

Police now say they have positivity identified Roosevelt Erik Garway Jr, age 19, of Lexington using a line up. Two males, one white and one black, were seen with Roosevelt Erik Garway Jr. as well. Witnesses say that the white male was the driver of the BMW. Officers found evidence to support the victim’s claim that there had been a shooting. No injuries were reported in relation to this incident.

Detectives have now issued warrants for Attempted Murder, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Violent Crime and Firing a Weapon into an Occupied Dwelling for Roosevelt Erik Garway Jr.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Roosevelt Erik Garway Jr. or the individuals with him during the commission of this crime are asked to contact Detective Payton at 803-359-6260.
