Swansea, SC – 02/20/2021 (Paul Kirby) – Multiple agencies have teamed up to arrest a Swansea man. He is accused of one count of criminal solicitation of a minor.
Law enforcement officials say Kevin Coorbin Sheppard, 28, solicited a person he believed to be a minor for sex. In these cases, it doesn’t matter whether the person who was playing the minor during their written or verbal conversations was really underage or not. This technique is often used by law enforcement to find and arrest people who are actively seeking a relationship of a sexual nature with a child.
Sheppard was arrested on Tuesday, February 16 by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigators in conjunction with the Mount Pleasant Police Department. Detectives with the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office and Naval Criminal Investigative Service also assisted with this investigation.
This case will be prosecuted by SC Attorney General Alan Wilson’s Office.
