Cayce, SC 11/12/2021 (Paul Kirby) - The Cayce Department of Public Safety is investigating a deadly hit and run collision that occurred Thursday evening. According to a spokesperson for the city, at approximately 6:30 PM, in the 1200 Block of Frink Street, a man was walking along the road when witnesses first stated they saw an SUV type vehicle strike him and flee the scene. As their investigation progressed, it has been discovered that the vehicle involved was actually a sedan and not an SUV. The vehilce headed toward Charleston Highway (US Hwy 321 south) after hitting the pedestrian.
Investigators now say that the sedan, shown in the attached picture, will have front end damage around the center of the hood. There should also be under carriage damage to this vehicle.
Officers and firefighters from the Cayce Police Department and Lexington County EMS responded to the scene. Cayce DPS investigators who are trained in accident reconstruction, are interviewing witnesses, reviewing video surveillance footage gathered in the area, and collecting physical evidence from the scene.
