Lexington County, SC 07/21/ 2022 (Paul Kirby) - The South Carolina Highway Patrol is turning to the public in hopes that someone may know something about a vehicle that was involved in a fatal hit and run on I-26 last Monday night. This collision occurred at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Interstate 26 near St. Andrews Rd and the 106 mile-marker in Lexington County. According to troopers, the vehicle they are seeking was traveling West towards Greenville and Spartanburg at the time of the collision.
Troopers say that at this point, they do not have a make and model of the vehicle that struck a pedestrian causing that individual to die. Once the vehicle struck the pedestrian, it left the scene without calling for emergency assistance or stopping to render aid. They believe that the vehicle may have heavy front-end damage. They are continuing their investigation of any evidence collected at the accident scene however, they now think the public would be their best resource for locating this vehicle and its driver.
If someone you know has a vehicle with front end damage that could have been involved in this collision you may make tips in a number of different ways. First, you can dial *HP to reach the SCHP dispatch center. You can also make tips through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-888-CRIME (2743), through their website at 888crimesc.com, or through the Crime Stoppers P3 tips app which is available in most app stores.
