Cayce, SC 02/07/2022 - Late Tuesday morning, February 7, an email threat was made against Airport High School. Law enforcement was contacted immediately and quickly launched an investigation. As a precaution, and at the request of law enforcement, Airport students and staff evacuated the building following their fire drill procedures. For some time, no one was allowed on or off campus except for law enforcement and district/school administrators while the drill was in process.
At 12:30 p.m., the school updated the situation by saying:
Law enforcement officers have conducted a thorough search of the building and has cleared it for return
Students and staff have been allowed to re-enter the school building and safely resumed the school day.
Airport had a modified meal schedule, to ensure all students receive lunch.
Following lunch, instruction resumed for the remainder of the afternoon, with a normal school day dismissal time.
Students who attend classes at the Lexington Two Innovation Center, whose bus departure was delayed due to the incident, also returned to their home campus.
