Town of Lexington lifts stop work order against fiber optics installer who had hit multiple Dominion Energy gas lines

Lexington, SC 03/25/2025 - The Town of Lexington has lifted the stop work order issued to Ripple Fiber and the company will soon resume work in the Town limits. The stop work order was prompted earlier this year following safety concerns related to damaged Dominion Energy gas lines among other issues.

Following multiple meetings between the Town and Ripple, the parties reached an understanding on the necessary steps to move forward. Ripple Fiber has committed to enhanced safety protocols and closer coordination with utility providers to ensure the protection of vital infrastructure.

While state and federal laws require the Town to provide telecommunications companies like Ripple Fiber with access to public rights-of-way, the Town remains firm in its commitment to holding all providers accountable for maintaining safety and protecting community resources.

“Our priority has always been the safety and well-being of our residents,” said Mayor Hazel Livingston. “We appreciate the cooperation of all parties in working together to resolve these issues. Moving forward, we will continue to monitor things to ensure the expectations set forth are met.”
