Pine Ridge, SC (Paul Kirby) 11/30/20 - The Town of Pine Ridge is collecting items for the US Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program again this year. Each year, donations to Toys for Tots help the Marines provide Christmas gifts for less fortunate children across the globe during the holiday season. To accomplish their goal, they need everyone to chip in to ensure these children have a happy Christmas.
Everyone with the Town of Pine Ridge and the Marine Corps Reserves understands that 2020 has been a rough year for everyone. The pandemic, the accompanying financial uncertainty, and soaring unemployment rates have made it even harder on some more than others. Because of these issues, the Marines who run the Toys for Tots program know there will be a lot more families who need a little help this holiday season. If you are able, please help by considering giving to Toys for Tots.
Toys for Tots accepts new, unwrapped toys for both boys and girls. All you have to do is buy the toy or toys and drop them off at the Pine Ridge Town Hall during regular business hours. This is located at 2757 Fish Hatchery Road in West Columbia, SC. There is a donation box in the lobby where you can place your gifts.
Remember, this program distributes toys only. The items can be as small as a board game, a deck of specialty playing cards like Pokémon, or as large as a bicycle. Age ranges vary so please keep that in mind when giving. This could be a child's first Christmas and some gifts go to children in their teens. All children, no matter what age, deserve to have a little something under the tree on Christmas morning. They do not accept toy guns or stuffed animals.
For more information please contact Brittany Burns, Pine Ridge’s clerk of court, by telephone at 803-755-2500 or by email at prclerkofcourt@sc.rr.com. The Town of Pine Ridge, the Marine Corps Reserves, and the families who need the help certainly would appreciate your help.
