Sandy Run, SC 05/21/2025 (Paul Kirby) – Firefighters from the Lexington County Fire Service and the Sandy Run Calhoun Fire Department responded to a tractor trailer truck on fire at about the 130 mile-marker on I-26 west Wednesday morning. When they arrived, the cab of the truck was fully involved in the flames and the fire had spread to the trailer.

Law enforcement and the firefighters closed all westbound lanes temporarily while the crews worked to put the fire out. After a short while, firefighters were able to knock down the fire and law enforcement was able to open one lane so that traffic could flow again.

Because the contents of the trailer were ordinary combustibles that were packed very close to each other, an excavator was brought in to pull all of that out so that the fire crews could completely put the fire out.
