Cayce-West Columbia, SC 12/11/2021 (Paul Kirby) – The cities of West Columbia and Cayce area warning travelers to expect traffic delays in the cities Saturday evening as a result of the popular Greater Cayce-West Columbia Area Chamber’s Christmas Parade of Lights. This event will block several key thoroughfares in the citybefore and while it is taking place.
According to a spokesperson for the West Columbia Police Department, Cayce Police Department officers will close 12th Street between Poplar and Frink Streets beginning at 1:00 pm today, Saturday, December 11th. This is the area where the parade will assemble.
On the opposite end of the route, the West Columbia Police Department will close Augusta Road (Hwy 1) at Jarvis Klapman Boulevard beginning at 4:45 pm. They will also close the intersection of 12th Street and Knox Abbott Drive at that time.
Once it begins, the parade will travel from Cayce down 12th Street through the heart of historic Triangle City and end on the West Columbia side. Businesses along the route will remain open so that excited visitors can eat, drink, and shop locally before and after the parade.
Expect the longest delays between 5:00 and 7:00 pm and plan your route accordingly.
