Train versus truck collision closes Chapin Road near Primrose Lane Wednesday

Chapin, SC 04/04/2022 (Paul Kirby) - A freight train and a commercial truck collided on Chapin Road between Primrose Lane and Sid Bickley Road Thursday morning. The collision occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. at the crossing just outside the Town of Chapin.

For much of the day, Chapin Road was closed as emergency crews worked to clear up the mess and ensure everything was safe. At approximately 3:30 p.m., the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department gave an update via their social media pages that advised one lane of Chapin Road had reopened. They were still asking drivers to avoid travelling this route if at all possible.

Neither the LCSD or the SCHP have said if anyone was injured as a result of this collision. It is currently still under investigation.
