Pelion, SC 12/15/2021 (Paul Kirby) – A mobile home fire reported Tuesday afternoon off Bushberry Road near its intersection with Northcutt Road east of Pelion was labeled suspicious by firefighters who fought the fire. Upon arrival, they quickly asked for a Lexington County Sheriff’s Deputy to make a report regarding the fire. This was the second instance where they had run a fire in this same mobile home and some of the first due crews remembered the previous fire at the structure.
The fire was reported about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. When the first fire crews arrived, they reported that the mobile home was fully involved, and it was classified as a working fire. The quickly established a water supply using tanker trucks before pouring water onto the structure from its exterior. At the height of the fire, multiple fire trucks were running from the fire to the closest hydrant to carry in the much-needed water to extinguish the flames. Teams of firefighters with hoses surrounded the burning structure and once they had the water supply issue mastered, it took a short time to bring the fire under control. The structure was a total loss.
It is important to note that just because a fire is labeled suspicious in nature does not mean that it was intentionally set. That is established only after a thorough investigation by trained personnel who have experience in cases such as this.
