Lexington, SC 11/30/2022 (Paul Kirby) – Two men have been arrested and one was charged with grand larceny while the other was charged with grand larceny and receiving stolen goods, according to arrest warrants issued for the two. Jason Wilson, age 41, of Lexington was the one charged with grand larceny while Maynard Bartlett, 37, a resident of Columbia, was charged with grand larceny and the additional count of receiving stolen goods, according to arrest warrants.
According to Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon, the department received a call from a witness who spotted the two taking the trailer from another home in the same neighborhood. Deputies responded to a residence on Bush River Road in the St. Andrews / Irmo area of Lexington County. Sheriff Jay Koon stated, “The witness reported seeing a white pickup truck speed off after stealing his neighbor’s trailer.”
Sheriff Koon said deputies were able to conduct a traffic stop after passing a white truck pulling a trailer that matched the description given by the witness. After the truck pulled over, they found Bartlett in the driver’s seat and Wilson in the passenger seat. A further check of vehicle records indicated that the pickup truck was also reported stolen out of Lexington County.
“Bartlett admitted to taking the trailer and stated that he was picking it up for a friend,” Koon said. “The value of the truck is $20,000 and the value of the trailer is $5,000.”
After being taken into custody and transported to the Lexington County Detention Center, both men made an appearance before a judge for a bond hearing. Wilson is still being held in the Lexington County Detention Center while Bartlett has been released after meeting conditions of his bond set by the judge.
