Two existing law firms merge to become D’Alberto, Graham & Grimsley

West Columbia, SC - D’Alberto & Graham and the Grimsley Law Firm have merged their practices to form the firm of D’Alberto, Graham & Grimsley. The firm is located at 508 Meeting St. in West Columbia.

Partners Dan D’Alberto, Michael Graham and Ben Grimsley created the firm in October through the merger of their respective firms. Their team of attorneys and staff serves business clients as Outside General Counsel in the areas of Business Law, Commercial Real Estate, Trusts & Estates, Creditor Rights, Land Use & Zoning and Environmental Law.

Dan D’Alberto and Michael Graham had merged their law and business consulting practices in 2019 to create D’Alberto & Graham, Attorneys & Advisors. When Ed Grimsley, Ben Grimsley's father, decided to merge their 20-year-old boutique creditor rights firm with D’Alberto & Graham. “The merger expands the services available to my clients while celebrating my father’s retirement from a long and distinguished legal career,” Ben Grimsley said.

Both firms were Columbia-based, but D’Alberto & Graham built a new 2-story, 5,400-squarefoot Class A office building on Meeting Street next to First Community Bank in West Columbia. It opened in late July. Wayne Rogers of Catalyst Architects designed the building, and Boyer Commercial Construction of Columbia was the contractor.

“We are delighted to have Ben Grimsley and his associates join us to create D’Alberto, Graham & Grimsley and expand our areas of practice,” said Michael Graham.

Dan D’Alberto has acted as outside general counsel to numerous companies, small business clients and state agencies handling a diverse array of legal issues, as well as a wide variety of strategic business and real estate-related issues. He has also worked in investment banking, helping business owners sell their businesses, and helped found a small private equity group. He holds bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of South Carolina, as well as master’s degree from Florida State University.

Michael Graham acts as counsel for national and local real estate developers, and serves business owners by overseeing their business transactions, formations and contracts. He also serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army Reserve and has been recognized for his ongoing work as an Army Judge Advocate. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina, a master’s from Troy State University, and a law degree from Campbell University School of Law.

A 2002 graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law, Ben Grimsley’s primary practice areas include creditor representation in foreclosures, collections, bankruptcies and replevins, a legal action to recover the possession of items of personal property. He has been admitted to practice in both North and South Carolina.

The growth at D’Alberto, Graham & Grimsley has allowed the firm to build a holistic legal team focused on helping clients succeed by envisioning and implementing their best and highest goals.
