Two juveniles arrested in West Columbia bomb threat

West Columbia, SC 06/22/2021 (Paul Kirby) – Officers with the West Columbia Police Department have arrested two juveniles after receiving a bomb threat at a local business. According to Captain Marion Boyce of the department, they received a call for service to respond to 725 Raleigh Street Monday afternoon. The 5 Star Academy Learning Center is located at that address.

West Columbia officers, assisted by the businesses’ employees, completed an evacuation of the business and called for assistance from the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED). They assisted the local officers in clearing the building. No devices were found. While the police were on the scene, they were also supported by the West Columbia Fire Department and the Lexington County Fire Service.


The West Columbia Police Department did take the two juvenile suspects into custody quickly. They will go through the legal process in the Lexington County Family Court System.
