Two Lexington County fugitives captured in Tennessee

Lexington, SC – Two Lexington County residents wanted in connection to multiple property and weapons crimes have been arrested in middle Tennessee.

Wilson County, Tennessee, deputies captured Joshua Nathaniel Nelson, 28, and Kayla Denelle Humphrey, 36, Thursday morning after an extensive search that started Wednesday.

“Deputies with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office were a big help to us on this case,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “They worked closely with us and put a lot of resources into their search. We’re grateful they were able to get Nelson and Humphrey in custody.”

Nelson is charged with the theft of catalytic converters from a Lexington rental car business, according to Koon. Nelson, a felon, also faces charges related to the possession of a firearm and body armor, according to arrest warrants.

Koon said Humphrey is charged with obstructing justice for her alleged role in assisting Nelson in fleeing the Midlands. The couple traveled to Tennessee and had been staying there together.

“We expect to have Nelson and Humphrey back in Lexington County before the end of the month,” Koon said.
