Lexington, SC 09/02/2021 (Paul Kirby) – Two Lexington County School District One Schools have temporarily switched from face-to-face to e-learning due to a high number of COVID-19 exclusions. They are Pelion Middle School and White Knoll Middle School. According to the district, they will tentatively return to face-to-face learning on September 13, 2021.
In its statement to parents, the district’s leadership said this was not a decision they took lightly. However, because of the number of students and staff members that have tested positive or are in quarantine status, they felt it was necessary to make this move now.
No Lexington County School District has given any indication that they intend to switch all their schools and students back to e-learning at this point. Currently, each district is making this type of decision on a school by school basis.
As rates of infection climbs, you may see more schools take this step as the year continues. Although the district has already made contingency plans for such events, it may behoove parents and guardians to formulate their own contingency plans in the event that their child’s school is forced to make this move.
