Lexington County SC 12/11/2021 (Paul Kirby) – Two separate motorist have died following collisions in two seperate areas of Lexington County Friday morning. One occurred on Corley Mill Road about 1 a.m. and the second happened around 7 a.m. on Pond Branch Road.
According to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher, the first collision happened when Maxwell Joseph Lampl, 23, of Lexington was traveling westbound on Corley Mill Road. The vehicle he was operating went off the left side of the asphalt, struck several trees, and came to rest on the right side of the roadway. Lampl was not wearing a seatbelt when he lost control of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries.
The second collision occurred at the intersection of Pond Branch Road and Neeley Wingard Road close to the intersection of I-20 and in proximity to the 44 Truck Stop. In this instance, Coroner Fisher said that Belinda Roblero-Perez, 14, of Leesville, was a passenger in a Chevy Tahoe that was traveling westbound on Neely Wingard Road. When the driver of that vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign at Neeley Wingard, the Tahoe was struck by a minivan traveling northbound on Pond Branch Road. The SUV overturned and ejected several people from the passenger compartment. Roblero-Perez, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene due to her injuries.
The driver of the Tahoe and three other juveniles who were also in it were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the van was transported with minor injuries.
Both of these cases are being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
