U-Haul to open new Moving & Storage Center in old K-Mart building in West Columbia

West Columbia, SC 11/10/2021 (Paul Kirby) – U-Haul corporation has announced that they plan to open a new Moving & Storage Center in the old K-Mart building at 1500 Charleston Highway in the City of West Columbia. They say they are creating more than 700 indoor climate-controlled self-storage rooms to meet their customer’s demand in West Columbia, Cayce, and the surrounding areas.

U-Haul Moving & Storage of Cayce will renovate and occupy the former Kmart® building and provide an expansive retail showroom. They will sell boxes and moving supplies, hitch accessories and bike racks, truck and trailer sharing, towing equipment and professional hitch installation, U-Box® portable storage containers and much more.

Adaptive reuse of the 100,984-square-foot facility will soon render a variety of self-storage units with high-tech security features at affordable price points. Storage customers will have extended hours access. U-Haul acquired the property on Sept. 30th of this year.

For decades, U-Haul has been the nation’s leading resource for the do-it-yourself mover with affordable moving and storage options. They rent trucks and vans of all shapes sizes that are specifically designed for people on the move. They also offer boxes, packaging material, and everything else a mover needs to pack up their possessions and move down the street or across the country. They also expertly install thousands of towing equipment packages that allow consumers to add the ability to tow to their vehicles safely.
