Villa Court Homicide

West Columbia, SC 02/09/2026 - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher is releasing the identity of a man who was found dead outside of a residence in the 100 block of Villa Court in the West Columbia area of Lexington County on February 8, 2026, at approximately 4:40 p.m.

Coroner Fisher states that Mr. Hoyt Mitchell Jennings, 47, of Columbia, was pronounced dead on scene due to a gunshot wound to the upper body.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department continue to investigate this incident.
