West Columbia, S.C. – 05/08/2021 (Paul Kirby) - The West Columbia Police Department is turning to the public for assistance in locating a person of interest in an investigation into a shooting death.
On Thursday, May 6, 2021, the West Columbia Police Department responded to the 500 block of Luke Street in West Columbia in reference to a shooting. There, officers found thirty-year-old Harkeem Akins dead as a result of a gunshot wound to his upper body. During the course of the investigation, officers established a person of interest in the case. Investigators are are now asking the public for information on the whereabouts of thirty-seven-year-old Corey Anthony Jones of West Columbia. Corey is five feet two inches tall and weighs 140 pounds.
