West Columbia Police Department investigating shooting death

West Columbia, SC 08/01/2021 (Paul Kirby) - Investigators with the West Columbia Police Department are in the early stages of an investigation into a shooting death. According to Captain Marion Boyce, spokesman for the department, police officers responded to the 800 Block of Osage Ave around 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon due to a reported shooting incident.

According to Captain Boyce, officers arrived on scene and found one person dead as a result of gunfire. He also said they have a juvenile suspect in custody on weapons charges at this time.


In closing, Captain Boyce said that the department wants the community to know that this appears to be an isolated incident. This is an active investigation, and Boyce said he will continue to update as more information becomes available.
