West Columbia, SC 09/16/2024 (Paul Kirby) – Officers with the West Columbia Police Department are investigating a shooting incident that left 2 men dead and a third injured Sunday. This occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. in the 900 block of Center Street.
According to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher, Kashaan Damon Sims, 17, of Columbia, was pronounced dead at the scene due to multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. An ambulance transported Alvin Davonte McDaniel Jr., 29, of Winnsboro to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead due to multiple gunshot wounds to his lower body. A third victim was evaluated at an area hospital for a gunshot wound but was later released.
West Columbia officers are working with the State Law Enforcement Divisions CSI team and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office on this investigation.
