What’s in that old building out back? The American Pickers want to know!

Lexington, SC 01/25/2021 (Paul Kirby) - The History Channel's popular television show American Pickers is returning to South Carolina. Now, the producers want residents across Lexington County and the Midlands to know that some of the things you may have stuffed or stored in that old building or barn could be that one treasure they are looking for.

AMERICAN PICKERS is a documentary series that explores the fascinating world of antique “picking”. It has run for many successful seasons on The History Channel. The hit show follows Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, two of the country’s most skilled pickers in the business, as they hunt for America’s most valuable antiques. They are always excited to find sizeable, unique collections and learn the interesting stories behind them.

According to Maggie Kissinger, one of the shows associate producers, filming is supposed to take place across South Carolina again in March. This is not their first visit here and they always enjoy visiting the Palmetto State. They are currently on the hunt for leads throughout the state. More specifically, they are trying to find interesting items that are owned by interesting characters. They’re looking hard because they want lots of interesting and eclectic items to pour over and search through while they are here.

As they hit the back roads from coast to coast, Mike and Frank are on a mission to recycle and rescue forgotten relics. Along the way, the Pickers want to meet characters with remarkable and exceptional items. The pair hopes to give historically significant objects a new lease on life, while learning a thing or two about America’s past along the way.

Mike and Frank have seen a lot of rusty gold over the years and are always looking to discover something they’ve never seen before. They are ready to find extraordinary items and hear fascinating tales about them.

The AMERICAN PICKERS don’t pick items in retail establishments or at flea markets. Instead, they spend hours looking for leads so that they can find that perfect private collection. They would love to explore your hidden treasure stuffed away in that old barn, building, or basement.

If you or someone you know has a large, private collection or accumulation of antiques that the Pickers can spend the better part of the day looking through, send us your name, phone number, location and description of the collection with

The producers use word of mouth as a way to find that one person or treasure trove of items that may hold the holy grail of collectables. This is where you come in. All you have to do I think about things you’ve seen or talk to others about things they might have or know of. In fact, they’d love to have you help to spread the word in your area.
