White Knoll High School grad gaining traction as a singer songwriter in Nashville with 1st album

White Knoll, SC 04/11/2022 – White Knoll High School graduate Trey Duncan has loved music his entire life. From singing in the school’s chorus to performing regularly with the choir in church, music has been his passion. Now, he’s released an album called "Ten Track Heart” that’s causing him to get noticed on streaming services, social media, and in America’s Music City, Nashville, TN.

After graduating high school, Trey studied both music and physics in college. Once he had his degrees in hand, he quickly landed a good paying job with a German company where he could use his knowledge of physics to benefit the corporate world and line his own pockets at the same time. After just a short time in that field, Trey called his parents, who still live in White Knoll area, and let them know he was miserable doing that work. Although he had a great job, he just wasn’t fulfilled. Music was tugging at him, and he just couldn’t ignore it any longer.

After thinking a praying about what he should do, he quit his job and began singing on the streets of Greenville, SC. He also took a job as the music director at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Travelers Rest, SC. When he wasn’t working in these ways, he’d gig in whatever small venue would hire him for a night or weekend across South Carolina and Georgia. He continued to sing cover songs and his original music and posting that to the social media site TikTok and other social media sites as well as on most streaming services.

The South Carolina native was discovered by Nashville recording studio Off The Row through his social media where he actively showcases his powerful vocals and songwriting through his "country rock n' soul" performances. After Off The Row Studio executives found Trey on social media, they were blown away by his charisma, soulful vocals, and blend of country and rock genres displayed across his social media. Trey, being the seasoned performer and songwriter he is, effortlessly delivered chill-inducing vocals in the studio tracking with the best session players Nashville has to offer. Producer P.T. Houston brought Trey's songwriting to life with the Off The Row team resulting in a strong Nashville sound mixed with rock n' roll that is sure to get you singing and dancing along.

Recently, Trey commented on "Ten Track Heart" saying, "Ten Track Heart” is about having many passions and being pulled in many different directions, and I’ve reckoned with that feeling my entire life - be it church, school, or work. This song was about four years in the making, and has seen many versions, but I’m happy to say with the help of the Off the Row team I finally got it right. I feel like this mirrors where I’m at in my artistry as well. I did my time exploring my artistic influences and playing with many excellent musicians, but I’ve finally come into my own with this song and my upcoming releases."

Some say that Trey bleeds southern soul into his songs with the passion of John Fogerty but the sweet tenor sound of Vince Gill. The TMYA Guitars-endorsed artist is an active member in the Greenville, South Carolina NSAI chapter, where his song "Running On Empty" was selected as the regional representative for the fall 2020 Anthem chapter challenge.

Trey says his father and mother ignited a love for the energy and power of artists like Def Leppard, AC/DC, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Tim McGraw married with a passion for honest and elegant songwriting from the likes of Billy Joel, Lionel Richie, Clint Black, and Dolly Parton

Trey’s first big break came in 2018 when he won the open mic competition at Smiley’s Acoustic Cafe in Greenville, SC. Since then, he has racked up wins at other open mic competitions, including Eddie's Attic in Atlanta. His former band, Kings Ransome, was a finalist for best single for their song “All Tied Up,” at the inaugural Upstate Music Awards in 2019 as well as a finalist for best EP at the 2020 awards for their EP “Tales.” His time with Kings Ransome also led to opportunities such as opening for Hinder, Crobot, Michael Angelo Batio, and Neil Zaza. When he’s not performing or writing he has the pleasure of teaching young musicians voice and guitar at NoteAbility Community Music School in Greer, SC and he’s still leading as the music director at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Travelers Rest, SC.

Listen to Trey's music, enjoy, dance along, and make sure to follow him on TikTok for what's still to come.
