Lexington, SC - On Friday night, the Timberwolves hosted Wando for the Lower State Championship and the right to play in the State Championship series next week. Wando scored first and led 1-0 through 3 innings. Both teams added runs in the 4th. Pitcher Andrea Lyon helped her caused and notched the game at 2 with a solo homerun in the 5th.
The game remained scoreless through the 6th and 7th and the game would be decided in extras. The Timberwolves kept Wando off the board in the 8th. Hannah Goodwin singled to lead off the bottom half of the inning and advanced to second on a pop up. With two outs, Maddie Miller launched a two run homer over the trees in left to deliver the game winning score. The Timberwolves defeated Wando 4-2 and advance to the state championship series next week.
The Timberwolves will host Byrnes on Monday at 6:30 for game 1 of the Championship series. Game 2 will be Wednesday at Byrnes.
