Wilson Named to NDAA Conference Committee

West Columbia, SC 09/22/2023 Washington, DC – Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC) issued the following statement upon his appointment as a conferee on the House-Senate Conference Committee for the FY2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

"I am thankful to Speaker Kevin McCarthy and my colleagues for the opportunity to serve on this year’s NDAA Conference Committee. As a veteran, father of four sons who have served in the military overseas, and senior member of the House Armed Services Committee, I am committed to supporting our servicemembers, veterans, and military families.

"War criminal Putin continues his war of aggression against Ukraine, the Chinese Communist Party is expanding its military and territorial claims in the region, and the Iranian regime continues exporting missiles and terrorism as it calls for the death of America and Israel. These critical threats, which our Founding Fathers understood, must be met with meaningful deterrence promoting peace through strength.

“I look forward to working with the conference committee to advance this bipartisan legislation, while continuing to represent the needs of the Palmetto State, including its military bases, defense research projects at South Carolina universities, and the critical missions at Savannah River Site.”

Members of the NDAA Conference Committee, appointed by the Speaker of the House and approved by the full House, work together to resolve differences between House and Senate-passed versions of the bill that fund the Department of Defense and the Armed Forces of the United States. Congressman Wilson is a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee and serves on the Strategic Forces and Readiness subcommittees.
