Woman in Connection with Unlawful Conduct to a Child

Chapin, SC 11/06/2026 - Lexington County deputies have arrested a woman in connection to a child abuse investigation at a day care center in Chapin.

Jenna Zifan Chapman, 26, is charged with unlawful conduct towards a child, according to an arrest warrant.

“Based on our investigation and witness statement, Chapman lifted a child by their wrist, carried them to the bathroom and threw them down, causing the child to hit their head and back,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said.

This conduct put the child at an unreasonable risk of harm to his physical and mental health.

“This incident was captured on video and witnessed by another employee,” according to Koon. “Chapman was arrested Tuesday morning in Newberry County.”

Chapman, a Chapin resident, has been released from the Lexington County Detention Center after meeting the conditions of her bond.
