Woodcoat shooting suspect found dead in Richland County after apparently committing suicide

Gaston, SC 11/16/2021 (Paul Kirby) – Investigators with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department are tying up some loose ends before they close their case surrounding the double homicide that occurred on Woodcoat Drive near Gaston Monday morning. According to a spokesman for the department, the suspect in that shooting incident was found dead in a car in Richland County after he apparently shot himself.

The entire incident began around 9:15 a.m. Monday morning when a neighbor of the deceased women called 911 and reported shots fired from inside a home. Deputies and first responders arrived on the scene to find two females in their 20s dead from gunshot wounds.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, the person who was found shot in Richland County was the only suspect in their case and they believe that person acted alone. At this point, they are continuing their documentation and piecing together what happened so that they can let the victims’ family know what occurred. They closed their last statement by saying there is no danger to the community associated with this case.
